This is a high profile position requiring a self-motivated, multifaceted landscape professional with the knowledge and desire to create landscapes of exceptional quality and mechanical integrity.  With your strong passion for excellence, you will build and maintain a cohesive, functional and flexible Irrigation and Night Lighting Team and manage the daily and yearly Irrigation and Night Lighting operations.  You will provide technical assistance to Sales and Marketing as well as provide sales and marketing to Irrigation-Only clients.  Responsibility for achieving Glengate’s quality standards, productivity, job cost, and gross margin goals is key.

Additionally, you will:

  • Maintain a list of active subcontractors to assist on our projects
  • Manage the estimating and job costing processes for the department

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or related field or equivalent experience
  • Irrigation – J3/J4 in CT strongly preferred
  • Five plus years of experience in Irrigation and Night Lighting installs and service
  • Experience/Knowledge in Horticulture
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of computerized accounting systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees and management in a team environment
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality

Assistant Field Manager – Tree, Plant, & Lawn Healthcare

The Assistant Tree, Plant & Lawn Healthcare Field Manager will assist the THC, PHC & LHC Field Manager with scheduling, materials allocations, quality control, dispatch, safety, and all aspects of running the THC, PHC and LHC departments. This position will be responsible for running the Pruning and Mulch sector of the department under the supervision of the THC, PHC & LHC Manager and assisting with the THC, PHC and LHC sectors.

You must be thoroughly familiar with all proper pruning and mulching practices. You must be well versed in tree and plant ID and familiar with tree, plant and lawn care and its applications to include: safe handling of materials, proper mixing and transporting of materials, First Aid procedures in case of an accident or spillage, proper application of materials, properly diagnosing insect and disease issues, operating all equipment, proper pesticide reporting per state regulations, ordering correct materials, and interfacing with customers, etc.

This is a working management position – candidate is required to do field work as part of a crew in addition to management tasks, 60% in the field and 40% administrative. Assist in directing 5 or more crews.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Field Manager with our Regular & Organic Plant and Lawn Health Care program, specifically Pruning and Mulch, on high-end residential properties in lower Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York and achieve sales goals.
  • Schedule all ticketed work for Pruning and Mulch teams
  • Submits any pesticide reports annually per state requirements and ensure technicians keep accurate records
  • Oversee schedules, time entries and work tickets/material allocations in a timely manner.  Review and manage any issues for your team.
  • Continually provide safety training to employees and subcontractors, and ensure they have and use appropriate safety equipment and practices.  Ensure team and subcontractor compliance to the Glengate safety program and to all appropriate laws.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or related field, or relevant experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience in landscape field
  • 3A Supervisory Commercial Pesticide License (preferred)
  • NY Commercial Pesticide License (preferred)
  • Arborist License (preferred)
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, ability to learn Aspire Landscape Software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees and management in a team environment.

The Plant and Lawn Health Care Technician will assist to:

  • Implement our Regular & Organic Plant and Lawn Health Care program on high-end residential properties in lower Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York.
  • Inspect landscape plantings and turf, diagnose insect, disease and cultural problems and apply treatments.
  • Evaluate new properties and suggest an IPM program.

Job Requirements: The successful candidate should possess:

  • 1-3 years of field experience and/or a background in organic property management.
  • Have or be able to obtain Connecticut pesticide applicators license within 30 days of employment.
  • Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) certified or able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform independently without direct supervision.
  • Driver’s license.

Masonry Field Manager

The Masonry Field Manager is a vital member of our construction team, responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of masonry projects including in-ground pools. This role ensures that all projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Manager will lead and develop masonry crews, interface with clients, manage materials and equipment, and collaborate with project managers and other trades to ensure seamless project delivery.

This position requires a thorough understanding of masonry techniques, safety protocols, project management, and team leadership to deliver outstanding results across residential masonry projects. The Masonry Field Manager must conduct all operations with professionalism, maintain a focus on safety, and uphold the company’s reputation for quality workmanship.

Selected Responsibilities:

  • Guide project planning aligned with company mission and core values.

  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets related to manpower, materials, equipment, and supplies.

Irrigation master technician/night lighting

Glengate Company, the premier Design/Build/Maintenance Company in the region is seeking highly qualified and experienced Irrigation Master Technician to join our growing Property Care Team. You will work on the most exclusive properties in Fairfield and Westchester counties, and communicate with and sell to our high-end clientele on a daily basis.

You should have a thorough understanding of irrigation and night lighting systems in order to install and service irrigation and lighting projects from the initial layout through its completion. You will have the ability to train, supervise and maintain a flexible crew.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule: Manage install schedule and coordinate operations for the Irrigation/Night Lighting Install Crew. Efficiently organize and plan installation process per property to meet budget and schedule goals
  • Administration: Ensure all paper work: timesheets, receipts, tech data, work orders, zone descriptions, watering schedules, requests for materials, etc. are filled out accurately, submitted on time and filed in the appropriate area.
  • Material: Order per install job to properly complete install job.  Direct shipment.
  • Communication: Capability of conversing with our clients and Managers. Excellent communication skills. Assure that communication (both in person and by phone) is relayed to appropriate staff person. Discuss with Field Managers to develop plans or schedules for Irrigation/Night Lighting improvement; as well as any problems encountered during the day-to-day activities and the response taken. Make Recommendations to Manager for additional Sales.
  • Inventory: Maintain accurate inventory in the department vehicles.
  • Trouble Shooting: Makes accurate decisions on problems as they arise and the ability to relay the logic behind this decision to the crew, management, and client if needed.
  • Safety: Maintains and supports Glengate safety program (e.g. Safe Transportation and equipment)
  • Equipment Maintenance: Insure all Irrigation and NL equipment, trucks, trailers, tools, and small engine machines are well maintained and in working order.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years experience (Irrigation)
  • 2-3 years experience with outdoor lighting
  • 2 years experience with hydrawise
