Nursery Spray Tech

Duties:

  • Scout tree farms and perennial holding yards to identify specific pest issues affecting crop
  • Work closely with our spray tech supervisor and tree farm manager to design and implement an integrated pest management (IPM) program
  • Perform spraying on tree crops in the field and holding areas, utilizing heavy machinery as needed throughout uneven terrain
  • Work with spray tech supervisor and management to track hours and set appropriate scheduling

Requirements:

  • Have experience applying pest and weed controls
  • Possess a Connecticut operator’s license [PA, 3A or 3D].
  • Have experience operating heavy machine such as tractors, skid-steers, and/or front-loaders.
  • Have a positive attitude and be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have reliable transportation and show up on time ready to work every day.
  • Be able to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly in a fast paced environment in all weather conditions up to nine hours a day.

Our top 50 garden center is looking for a knowledgeable sales associate to work in our nursery department selling trees and shrubs. Applicants should have prior experience working in a nursery and good working knowledge of ornamental horticulture.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Selling trees and shrubs daily
  • Plant staging and maintenance
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Assisting in shipping and receiving of plant material, some lifting and moving required.
  • Pricing new plant material
  • Maintaining stock level in nursery yard and display areas, refilling as necessary.

Turf Technician Members:

Turf Technician members should have an interest in the greens industry.  Experience is required for this position.  Candidates must have knowledge is all aspects of turf applications.  They should possess an Operator’s license for the State of Connecticut.  Technician members must be hard working, detailed individuals with an enjoyment of the outdoors.  They must be self-starters that are able to work independently.  Must be able to work long hours during busy seasons and in various conditions.  This is a full-time position.  Pay rate range: $18 – $25 per hour.

Crew leaders will work with other team members on various landscaping tasks to insure they are completed properly and efficiently. This is a full time working position with overtime during the shoulder months of the season.  Working in various weather conditions is required.  Communication is paramount as crew leaders interact with clients, team members and account managers.  Pay rate range:  $17 – $25 per hour.

Position Requirements:

 Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL is a bonus)

  • Landscape/landscape construction experience
  • Basic mechanical skills for small engines and equipment

  • Turf care/pesticide application experience

Work hours are 7am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required during the busy season. The pay for this position will be negotiated based on experience. Retail Customer Service Associate
We are currently looking to hire happy people to work during the gardening season in our retail store. Full time and part time hours are available, and one weekend day is required. The season runs March through December. We are looking for positive, energetic, creative people with a good work ethic and who enjoy customers and hard work. We want people who have an interest in plants, and want to garden 100% organically. A knowledge of perennials, annuals, shrubs and organic gardening methods are a plus, but not required. We are ready to train the right person.  Associates will be involved in all aspects of our daily duties which include: Selling and loading customer vehicles with plants, mulch, soil and fertilizer, unloading plant truck deliveries, tagging and displaying plants, watering and tending plants, ringing a computerized cash register and basically anything else needed during the course of the day.
