At Frank’s Landscape Construction Irrigation Division, dedication to our clients, smooth processes and attention to detail are the keys to our success. We’re in need of an office manager with excellent organizational skills and a personable disposition to keep them thriving. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to be agile and adaptive as business needs can vary and enjoys direct interaction with our clients. You’ll be a critical liaison to our irrigation clients and crew members. In a business where anybody can tout their irrigation acumen, our customer service and client-focused attitude is what differentiates our business from the pack.

There are three primary audiences to which you’ll be interacting with daily:

  1. Our amazing client base – be a brand ambassador for our company by meeting and exceeding client expectations. Cultivate and maintain relationships. Foster open dialog to ensure that client needs are met in a timely fashion.
  2. Our dedicated irrigation crew – Our clients are our top priority and keeping this crew on the move is key to our success. Managing the daily calendar and solving for challenges along the way to help the crew meet client needs is imperative.
  3. Our Owner, Frank – With over 20 years in business, Frank prides himself on the quality of work, commitment to clients and overall experience in working with the team. Coordination of resources, troubleshooting, and keeping a solid flow of communication will be critical to maintain the values of the business.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Daily Workflow For Irrigation Team: o Scheduling irrigation startups, mid-summer checks, winter shutdowns, service calls, installs, back flow preventer testing
    • Keeping crew aware of changes to schedule in a timely manner
    • Ensuring crew is aware of items in need of resolution at clients’ request
    • Financial Management: o Maintaining customer and accounts payable files
    • Promptly invoicing customers; applying payments as they arrive; depositing payments; rebilling past-due accounts and/or securing past-due payments.
    • Processing payments to vendors
  • Communication Management: o Initiating and responding to all forms of communication
    • Monitoring/maintaining office supplies inventory
    • Additional office responsibilities may be required
    • Partner with Landscape Construction team and Office Manager to coordinate as needed
  • Travel:  Light local travel may be needed to deliver or pick up supplies as needed by team or clients.
  • Landscape Construction Division: Assist Landscape Construction team and Office Staff in similar tasks as outlined above

Assistant Position to Garden Center Manager

Full-time position available in one of Connecticut’s long time established Garden Centers and Landscape Companies.  Position is an opportunity for the right candidate who is hardworking, self-motivated and enjoys the results of a job well done.

Commitment to customer service and some heavy lifting are a must.

Tree, shrub and perennial knowledge is helpful but not required.

Inventory Control Manager, Assistant Purchasing Manager

Description of Duties

Planters’ Choice is looking for a motivated individual with good critical thinking skills and an eye for detail to maintain the inventory for our main sales location in Newtown, CT.

The ICM will be expected to work independently on a daily basis to complete the following duties to maintain accurate inventory of stock:

  • Routinely conduct thorough cycle counts of stock to maintain accuracy
  • Review and correct daily sales discrepancies as needed
  • Utilize internal database software and excel spreadsheets to maintain and record inventory changes throughout the season
  • Facilitate the transfers of materials between locations

In addition to the inventory control responsibilities, the ICM will be expected to assist the Purchasing Manager with day-to-day tasks including:

  • Data entry for spreadsheets and purchase orders
  • Receiving of purchased materials into the internal database
  • Adjusting pricing as needed within the system
  • Printing of tags and signage (and checking that they have been properly applied)
  • Help keep the PM informed of inventory issues or needs
  • Communicate staff needs and issues to PM while his is on the road or off site
  • Ordering of hard-goods (tools, fertilizer, equipment) and office supplies

Job Requirements

  • Plant knowledge (particularly woody trees and shrubs)
  • High attention to detail and ability to work efficiently
  • Good computer skills, especially with Excel and other database programs
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and be a part of our team and culture
  • Be able to life 50lbs.
  • Be able to work overtime and weekends during peak seasons, in all weather
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • $18-21 / hour based on experience, overtime paid at time and a hal
