The position is full time during the growing season (March-November), and part time December-February. The candidate must be able to identify ornamental plants and have a degree in Horticulture or hands on experience with ornamental plants. Judges Farm is a wholesale producer of container grown Perennials, Herbs, and Annuals.

Full time Seasonal position involves working closely with grower to complete daily plant care needs. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year hands on growing experience in a production nursery or garden center and knowledge of plant material or degree in Horticulture. Although this is a typically full-time position, we are willing to be flexible with hours if we find a good candidate who may currently still be enrolled in classes.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions and be able to lift 50lbs. Bilingual (Spanish) not required but is a plus. Position includes operation of tractor and spray equipment, will train if needed. Must be available to work extended hours and weekends.

Responsibilities include as but not limited to;

  • Watering by hand and with irrigation systems
  • Scouting for insects and plant health issues
  • Weekly Application of PGR’s and Plant health treatments (spraying with tank)
  • Light facility & equipment maintenance
  • Assist in production work (Planting, pruning, weeding, movement of plant material etc.)

Landscape Crew Leader:

Inventory Control Manager, Assistant Purchasing Manager

Description of Duties

Planters’ Choice is looking for a motivated individual with good critical thinking skills and an eye for detail to maintain the inventory for our main sales location in Newtown, CT.

The ICM will be expected to work independently on a daily basis to complete the following duties to maintain accurate inventory of stock:

  • Routinely conduct thorough cycle counts of stock to maintain accuracy
  • Review and correct daily sales discrepancies as needed
  • Utilize internal database software and excel spreadsheets to maintain and record inventory changes throughout the season
  • Facilitate the transfers of materials between locations

In addition to the inventory control responsibilities, the ICM will be expected to assist the Purchasing Manager with day-to-day tasks including:

  • Data entry for spreadsheets and purchase orders
  • Receiving of purchased materials into the internal database
  • Adjusting pricing as needed within the system
  • Printing of tags and signage (and checking that they have been properly applied)
  • Help keep the PM informed of inventory issues or needs
  • Communicate staff needs and issues to PM while his is on the road or off site
  • Ordering of hard-goods (tools, fertilizer, equipment) and office supplies
