Inside Sales Representative

STATUS / PAY:  Full Time / Regular – $16.00 to $18.00 p/h (Plus Commission)

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll collaborate with your Outside Sales Craftsmen to execute your team strategy and meet your sales goal.
  • You’ll call current and prospective customers.
  • You’ll continue to learn about industry trends and the plants we grow.
  • You’ll help promote brand awareness by presenting marketing and sales strategies to customers and colleagues periodically.
  • You’ll support our company values in the way you communicate with customers and your fellow craftsmen.
  • The possibility of some travel should the need arise to attend a trade show or visit another nursery.

Who You Are

  • You have education, experience, or knowledge of the horticulture industry.
  • Ideally you have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a professional office setting.
  • You are able to learn and utilize technology.
  • You are good at planning, executing, and meeting goals.
  • You are open to feedback, communicate well and take action as required.
  • You have good math and computer skills and are proficient in Excel.
  • You are able to work Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4pm; and Saturdays from 7:30am to 12:00pm on occasion during our busy spring season.
  • You have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record so you can drive around the nursery as needed.
  • You’re able to maneuver around the office and nursery, work on a computer and with a telephone, and can lift up to 35 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • You would consider relocating to another Monrovia nursery or to an outside territory.

Sales Administration Clerk

STATUS / PAY:            Full Time / Regular – $16.00 to $18.00 p/h (Commensurate with Experience)

Duties and Responsibilities: Answer and forward phone calls to the proper coworker; greet all customers and visitors entering the office; assist with sales administrative tasks assigned from Sales Management; perform world class customer service; maintaining contact lists for all nursery departments; helping with various sales events; interfacing with coworkers and managers. Candidates need to be flexible, able, and willing to perform  different tasks. We provide and excellent work environment. Qualifications:

  • Passage of a preemployment Microsoft Excel skills test
  • Highly proficient in use of various Microsoft OS and MS Applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Relational database experience is preferred.
  • Hardware knowledge is highly desired (Cell phones, laptops, MFP’s, cash registers).
  • Strong written and spoken communication is required, preferably with 2-3 years in a professional office setting.
  • Associates degree or experience equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bilingual/bi-cultural in English and Spanish is a plus

Summer Internship 2022

STATUS / PAY:            Full Time / Seasonal / Internship – $15.00

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll work in all areas of the nursery so that you can gain an understanding of what it takes to Grow Beautifully.  The work will include spending time in propagation, canning, pruning, assembling of orders, shipping, research, and sales.
  • Besides the nursery experience, you’ll also spend time in classroom learning and a scheduled field trip.
  • You’ll learn from our experienced craftsmen.
  • You’ll support our company values in the way you communicate with your fellow craftsmen.

Who You Are

  • You are pursuing a degree in Ornamental Horticulture or a related field or have experience, or knowledge of the horticulture industry and want to learn more.
  • You are excited to learn.
  • You are open to feedback and communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • You are able to work Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and ½ day on Saturdays.
  • You’re able to maneuver around the office and nursery, can lift up to 35 pounds, and can perform repetitive moments like squatting, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Educational Program Assistant 1

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and engaged individual with a strong interest in finding horticultural solutions and a passion for communicating with the public. This position has 80% effort in support of the Home and Garden Education Center (HGEC) and affiliated service laboratories, and 20% effort in support of communications for the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture (PSLA). The HGEC is part of UConn Extension and this person will be the main point of contact for the Plant Diagnostic Lab, Turfgrass Disease Diagnostic Center, and the Soil Nutrient Analysis Lab. The selected candidate will join a team of exemplary staff and faculty members in the HGEC that strive to identify and educate the public and private entities on environmentally sustainable and economically feasible solutions for commercial and residential horticultural issues. The selected candidate would also be a member of and primary communications staff person for the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture, which is recognized for service to Connecticut through graduate and undergraduate education, outstanding public outreach programs associated with formal extension and engaged scholarship, and nationally competitive research programs.
